Diwali Festival!
Everything you need to know about the upcoming Diwali celebrations on campus!
Celebrate the Festival of Light with One Brunel, Hindu Society, Indian Society, Bangladeshi Society, Tamil Society and Telugu society.
Below you can see the list of different events taking place from October 29th - 1st November and book tickets to attend them.
From everyone at Union of Brunel Students' we with you a Happy Diwali and hope you will join us for the celebrations.
Please see the event policies at the bottom of this page before attending to ensure you can enter the event.
Thursday 31st October
4 - 6PM:Diya painting workshop and Rangoli workshop - TICKET REQUIRED. in Locos bar. To attend this event please secure a free ticket. All materials will be provided. Hosted by Indian Society.
10PM - 3AM: 'Diwali Night'- TICKET REQUIRED. is taking place in Venue for you to dance the night away. This event has it's own event page where tickets can be purchased from. Dhol drummers will be performing on the night.
Friday 1st November
5PM: Diya lighting ceremony. We will celebrate by lighting Diya outside of Eastern Gateway before the evening activities commence. Colleagues from the Student Union and University Senior Leadership team will join us.
6PM: Talent Showcase and Best Dressed competition! - TICKET REQUIRED!
Dhol drummers will open up our night at Eastern Gateway Auditorium, followed by a quick Sanskaar on the importance and traditions of Diwali. Dress to impress as our 360 camera will be there to capture your traditional garments, towards the middle of the showcase we will be awarding prizes for the best dressed male and female at the event.
The main event will be our talent showcase, which you can sign up to participate as a performer HERE. Due to the amount of submissions we will be unlikely to take sign up requests on the night so please sign up in advance to perform. Please note we welcome acts of all nature but see what we are able to provide and accept in the link, in terms of music and performance requests.
Additional events
Brunel Hindu society are additionally organising a 'Mendhi and Mocktails night' on the 29th October, for which there is a seperate event listing. This event is open to all students and we thoroughly encourage you to attend. - TICKET REQUIRED.

Policies
You must be a current or September 2026 intake student of Brunel University London to attend this event. Physical Brunel Univeristy London issued ID will be required prior to entering the venue to verify your student status.
Guest tickets are only available at certain events, they are limited availability and must be purchased by the guest themselves. Guests need to bring ID with them that is an official form of ID (Passport, Driving Licence, BRP) with identification photo. Guests must enter the event with their Brunel student.
1 guest ticket only per Brunel student.
No large bags are allowed in the event, all small bags will be checked for items such as alcohol which is not permitted in the event.
